iProcurement
iProcurement is the Oracle tool designed for most agency users involved in requisitioning. It is a web-based, self-service tool that can be used with little or no training. It gives users the ability to shop online, find government and agency contracts, and buy from government online catalogues. Requisitioners can also raise “non-catalogue” requests for items they cannot find in an electronic catalogue.
Oracle Purchasing
Oracle Purchasing is the Oracle tool that gives agency buyers the ability to create and approve purchase orders. It is a more complex application than iProcurement and it is meant to be used by trained procurement professionals. Oracle Purchasing is sometimes known as Professional Purchasing or “Core” Purchasing.
Requisitions raised in iProcurement move into Oracle Purchasing once electronic requisitions are approved by authorised approvers in the system. System buyers then review approved requisitions and turn them into purchase orders that are automatically sent to suppliers. Agencies also have the ability to automate their purchase order approval and creation process for certain types of approved requisitions.
Oracle Purchasing is also the module used to represent agency contracts and control agency purchasing. This application also manages the transmission of purchase orders to suppliers by several methods including email, fax, or hard copy.
