ConferWest Facilities

Multipoint Conference Unit

ConferWest has expertise in assisting you to locate sites, prepare content, manage, and bridge multiple site video and video-phone conferences.

ConferWest’s own facilities include a state–of-the-art Multipoint Conference Unit (MCU) for bridging multiple sites.

The MCU support numerous features, some of which include:

  • In-conference management
Site muting / unmuting, broadcast control, presenter mode
  • Speed matching
Different locations at difference bandwidths such as128K sites with 256K and / or 384K
  • Hybrid conferences
Analogue phone connection into digital video conferences
  • Continuous presence
Split screen showing one to four sites on the screen at any one time.
Endpoints

To operate effectively, ConferWest require endpoints to be bridged from all vendors.

Consequently, the interoperability of the endpoints with ConferWest’s resources are continuously checked.

The checks are usually conducted through a verification process when new sites are located and tested prior to a real time conference.

Compatible

A range of endpoint products have been successfully bridged through ConferWest’s MCU in combination with endpoints from other vendors.

These include the older MacroLink and the newer OnRamp services from Telstra.

Successful and stable results have been achieved with:

  • PictureTel
  • Polycom
  • Tandberg
  • RSI Media Pro
  • Sony
  • Aethra
